Sultan Kait-bey was the last powerful mamlyuksky governor who has built many monuments from Mecca to Syria. Its funeral complex (represented on the Egyptian banknotes advantage in 1 pound) belongs to the greatest monuments of the Northern cemetery. Kait-bey’s name means "revived" or "returned": he has not died almost at the birth. The sickly boy has been sold in the market of slaves to everything for 50 dinars. Fast change of governors after 1437 has accelerated its eminence, and in 1468 bodyguards of the former governor, his old comrade in arms, declared Kait-bey the sultan. On duration its 28-year board conceded only to Al-Nasir’s board. Having stepped over an eighty-year-old limit, Kait-bey remained «high, beautiful and direct as the reed» and continued to listen to complaints of citizens during special receptions – диванийя, arranged twice a week.
The difficult complex of the mausoleum of sultan Kait-bey constructed in 1474 (daily 9:00-17:00) is briskly incorporated accurate strips on a facade which are best of all visible from the North. The three-private portal fixes an eye to the smart minaret directing up among ridge niches, stalactite consoles and balconies and coming to the end with a tear-shaped poppy-head. In a complex ливаны the madrasah, the decorated floors and walls incorporate in an enchanting spectacle of colour marble and geometrical patterns, over them ceilings and roofs with beautiful octagonal lamps rise decorated with a skilful carving and gilding. The crypt near кибла Lebanon is decorated similarly, its high dome is supported by sails. One of prints of a foot of Mohammed, brought of Mecca, also is stored in this room. Ask permissions to rise by a minaret closer to examine a magnificent carving on a stone on the outer side of its walls. The relief ornament from stars towers over a carved flower pattern, at lighting change the reminiscence becomes diametrically turnaround. Not including that, looking down from a minaret, you can plan the future way on a narrow twisting small street to ensemble of sultan Barsbey.
